At the end of my college career, I met Mark.
He and I worked together at a Fitness Facility.
I taught dance and fitness classes, while Mark
worked the front desk and gave lessons.
We easily became fast friends. We would talk
for hours at work. He would often
accompany me to parties and events
and while we were there,
he was very attentive and protective of me.
We would talk on the phone for hours, he truly was
my best friend. Like the couple in the movie,
When Harry Met SallyHis was the first voice I wanted to hear on the phone
in the morning and the last before I went to sleep.
Secretly we both began having more than friend
feelings, but had no idea how to begin to date.
Finally, we both went to our separate homes
to spend Thanksgiving with our families.
Again we called back and forth almost
the whole time apart. When I returned to
Springfield he met me at the old victorian
house I was renting with my six roommates.
We decorated the tree together and afterwards
I was sitting on the kitchen counter and he was
standing there in front of me and somehow
we both just knew it was time to start a
new kind of relationship.
Because we were the best of friends
our relationship advanced to a proposal
2 months later and a wedding in 4 months.
This is one of my most favorite photos of us.
I think why I have remained in love with him
through the years is because he has such a
lovely, wonderful, generous, and kind heart.
He is a very good person and being with him
has changed me, it has made me wish to be
a better person. He brings out the best in me.
I am so glad that we found each other.
Whatever our souls are made of,
his and mine are the same...
