Ragamuffin Gal

".. from my ragged heart to yours"

October 3, 2009

~*SaTurDay FaMiLiars**

I can still remember the first time
 I saw a pair of Levis 50ls...
I was at the swimming pool & one of the
older "cool" high school
girls came walking in with a pair on.
and I can remember thinking
"Wow - I love those jeans!"
and
I have had a pair in my closet ever since.

The picture above is of my favorite pair.
They use to be my husband's jeans.
Several years ago they went into
the rag pile
and I dug them out.
They use to be way too big,
and I loved the baggy fit.
But after several years of washing
and me growing, they fit like a dream, and
they are the ones I grab every Saturday.

They were way too long,
so I cut them off a couple of years ago.
I just love the way they feel!!!
And since they are kind of raggy
they fit this ragamuffin gal.

I have several old familiars,
Things I turn to again and again
because they give me such confort.

Here is a list of some of my
Old Familiars:

1. My favorite necklace

2.  rootbeer
3.  The Library Center
4.  Jack Prelutsky Poetry

My classroom as I open the door

12.  Watching the Lord of The Rings movie triology

13.  Leolas

14.  My favorite Artists,
 Anahata, Marsha, and Debrina,

15. Animals that sit quietly in your lap or beside you
 while you stroke them

16.  Friends I have met and made
that I love to return to visit their blogs
over and over again.

Just found your blog....followed from another blog. I really enjoyed this post and identified with the "classroom as you enter the door every morning". I am a teacher and I also love walking into the classroom....everything is in place and ready for a new day!

I also like your "blog name" since The Ragamuffin Gospel is one of my favorite books.

p.s. My man has a pair of Levis he wears but you can see his undies through the little holes, so be careful! lol

Love this post Katie! I LOVE your classroom! No wonder you love walking in there each morning- I would too!
My familiares I think would be my house. I love coming home (even if it's messy) and being surrounded by the people and furry friends I love and who love me. Have a wonderful week dear friend!

I knew we were kindred spirits! I love 501's!!!! And I like them worn and washed out. Country Living is one of my favorite subscriptions, and the best part of my day is when my girls call me!

Your classroom is adorable! I bet your students love walking in that room every day--if not for the way it looks, for their adorable teacher!

Thanks for the mention today. Your blog is one I come back to again and again!! (And it always makes me smile!)

Old and familiar........well.....off the top of my head I would have to say:

My husbands shoulder. I lay my head there when we watch tv, have for years....but something about it is so comforting I almost always go to sleep.

My grey fleece jacket I bought many years ago to take to Alaska. It's old and not very stylish, but soft and warm. I'm breaking it out today for a very chilly morning walk.

My dining room table that I grew up with. Not only have thousands of hours been spent eating at it, but it has served as a place for homework, crafts, laying out patterns for sewing projects (both my prom dresses, and many many more party and school dresses), buffet eats with friends, a fort underneath, and important family talks of long ago.

There's many more old treasures I could got on about, but these came to mind today.
