Sunny Saturday

Hello friends!

I have spent the morning crafting and creating small mixed media hangers as "Goodbye for the summer" gifts for my teacher friends. Yesterday I realized how hard it is going to be for me to bring this year to a close. It has been my first year as the lead teacher in my grade level and I have experienced more freedom than ever in my teaching style. I have also developed a strong bond with the 4 other first grade teachers. I really love them. Two of them will go on to teach in the new school Nixa is opening up this fall. And due to the result of this new school decreasing our enrollment, 1 more will go to another grade level. Another source of my sadness is the passing on of my students to the next grade. They have been so enjoyable to teach this year and I love them so much. Some of them have made huge progress in their social and creative thinking development. Most of all they are just so affectionate and such good hearted little folk. We are reading Because of Winn-Dixie and they love this book as I do, they cannot bare for me to stop reading at each chapter's conclusion. On Tuesday, we will have a talent show and a Winn Dixie Party, complete with peanut butter, egg salad, pickles, and dump punch.

Last Tuesday, my husband Mark turned 50. He is an amazing awesome 50. Remember in the movie Jerry McGuire when the female lead told her sister "she loved Jerry for the man he is going to become?" Well, Mark has become all of what I knew he could be and then more. I am so proud to be married to him. When I have any doubt about God's love for me, I just look at the people he has surrounded me with in my life.

I am going to go on a picnic now. I am still reading the Irresistible Revolution and I am also reading along with it two more great reads: Anne Lamott's Grace Eventually and Mary Jane Butter's Ideabook, Cookbook, Lifebook, for the farmgirl in all of us. If you want some inspiring "eye candy", check out the new Somerset Studio magazine. It is packed full of beautiful pieces of inspiration.

Wishing you blessings and inspirations, k

Katie,
You should bring some of your altered art pieces with you to hooking sometime. I'd love to see them and I'm sure the others would as well! I'm adding you to my "blog" list!!
