".. from my ragged heart to yours"

**~ Imagined...*

Mark  and I were playing a game
the other night when he asked me this question:

If you could dine with anyone dead or alive,
who would it be?

Audrey Hepburn?  Corrie Ten Boom?
Rich Mullens?

No,

although they do share a lot in common
with the one I chose.

I have his quotes around my classroom,
I have them in my heart
and I believe in the truth
of his life ~

"It was the man who said these words:
Darkness cannot drive out darkness;
only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate;
only love can do that."

"Faith is taking the first step
even when you can't see
the whole staircase."

Thank you Dr. King for giving us a
dream and a hope.

Now,
I ask you ..
Who would you most like to dine with?

I would like to dine with David's dad. Sadly, he died before David and I met. And I would like to meet the man who made the man that I love with all my heart. ~Mindy

In all seriousness, I would love to dine with Mr. Rogers. I think he was one of the kindest men to ever walk this planet. I've loved him since I was a little girl, and reruns of his show often bring a tear to my eye.

That will take some serious thinking, dear Katie, but I love your example of MLK and those quotes that make me want to cry!
Hugs,

Hello Katie, your comments on my blog about being around first graders so much that your spelling skills have diminished made me giggle! Brillent/brilliant - whatever! I'll gratefully accept either.

Who would I choose to dine with? Well, I've just read a book called 'Have a Little Faith' by Mitch Albom, who is Jewish (he also wrote The Five People You Meet in Heaven and Tuesdays with Morrie). He spent some years learning from his old rabbi, Albert Lewis. What an incredible man, with some extreme life experiences and a wonderful heart. I should point out that I actually have no particular religious leanings, although I do think of myself as spiritual. This man's view on life was inspirational. I can recommend this book. A meal with Albert would be the one I'd choose.

Have a lovely day,

I love this post -- I have been working (for months) on my "Imaginary Dinner Party" post -- the eight people I'd invite to dinner. I hope I finish it soon! One of those who would be there is Rachel Naomi Remen, a doctor and author whom I find more inspiring than almost anything.

Lynnae mentioned Mister Rogers -- I had the pleasure of meeting him at a PBS meeting and he was as wonderful and caring to a LONG line of people (spending a great deal of time with each person) as he is on TV. All the folks I've met from "the neighborhood" are. Love it.

By the way, I meant to say that kitchen/table/stove -- WONDERFUL!

I think either Peter or Paul; to find out about them and their conversion to following Christ. They are among my favorites in the Bible. Or, perhaps Esther to ask her about the year of preparation to meet the King. Maybe Mary, how she felt when told she'd bear the Christ child.

I love this post. I would have to say, I would love to dine with no other than Jesus, as all other men and women have some greatness, I would love to dine with the one and only. I have dreamed about him twice and love him more every day. To talk with him face to face would be the most wonderful experience ever and one day I will get to dine with my loving savior. God bless. Easy.... go back about 30 years and dine with my mom. She was always the very experimental cook. I would go up to K.C. and we would have a glass or 2 of wine, chat, and she would make something marvelous!
