~** Summer Fun! *

Summer is here in Missouri!

And part of the summer fun is the release of
the new Toy Story movie!

The first and second one won my heart
maybe because I am around first graders a lot,
but more because it is fun to imagine
our favorite toys coming to life.

So I began thinking about my childhood toys...

One of the first toys I played with a whole lot was ~

Calamity Kiddle

Then I moved up to Johnny West
or at least to the horses ~

Then my pals and I began secret clubs
where we ran around the neighborhood looking for a mystery.

Then we moved up to games like ~

After all who could resist a Secret Admirer?

Finally... We played records on a player that looked
something like this ~

And soon we were off to talking on the phone
and doing more grown up activities,
like riding around town in cars,
going to movies, shopping, and sports.

So what about you..  what were your favorite toys
when you were growing up?
I would love to know.
Have a Happy Week Friends!
~ * Katie

I can't wait to go see Toy Story 3, and also... several other
new movies.  Any recommendations?

What fun! I loved my bicycle when I was a kid, and I had a set of blocks (pre-Lego!) that I loved. My dollhouse was another favorite. Thanks for all the great memories....I had to go back a lot farther than you though!!

I must go waaaay back! I don't remember any particular toys other than a favorite dolly.
We were outside constantly all summer. My mom made me a little flared skirt and vest and I had a cowboy hat and a set of six shooters! I LOVED playing cowboys and Indians! I was ALWAYS Dale Evans!
Oh what a blast from the past, LOL!

Hi Friend,
The 1st favorite toy I can remember is Chatty Kathy. Pull her string & have hours of fun.
Then I was really into my Barbies. If only I had my original case with all my Barbies & Skippers & clothes, I might just sell my sold to the devil for that like in 'Needful Things'!
I sold them when i was in Jr High for $5 to my friends little sister.
Can I kick myself now for that retarded move??? Ouch, I just did it.
Thanks for the memories,
Smiles...

Fun and playful post Katie!
I enjoyed roller skating and still have my metal "key".
I had a tiny tears with curly lambie hair that I Loved ... sadly she got dry rot in my Mom's attic.
You have me thinking now!
Happy first full day of summertime...summertime
...sum...sum...summertime!

Hmm...Roller skates rank very high, as does my brother's chemistry set. I longed for an Erector Set, but girls didn't get stuff like that.

We had a board game when I was in my early teens called SPOT. It combined remembering what you'd uncovered under the spots with moving around the board with your pieces, and was great fun. I'm constantly on the lookout for one, but have never seen another. sigh.

Hi Katie, I am delighted you visited the Vintage Nest and hope to see you often. Heck, I can't even say the words Toy Story. That's hard to say! LOL....I loved my pogo stick. I could hop up hills, steps, just everywhere.

What sweet childhood memories! I remember Mystery Date. My mom wouldn't get it for me because she thought I was too young to play such a game. hee hee I think I was about 6. My favorite game was Mother's Helper. My cousin had it and I loved playing it. About 8 years ago I found one quite battered on Ebay and snatched it up. Oh the memories.

Cute post! I loved them all...plus Barbies and Dawn dolls! Molly has seen Toy Story 3 two times already including organizing a trip to Chicago to see it on the IMAX on Navy Pier. I am looking forward to seeing it as well- have only heard great things! Happy weekending!
