Brian's Goodbye Party, A Win, and An Award!

D E A R F R I E N D S,

The Last Sunday in June we had a going away party for Brian.

Some of you may remember Brian Lewis, a talented writer and poet,

who wrote regularly for the Springfield Newsleader and a winning poet

at our Poetry Slams at Well Fed Heads Bookstore.

Brian is going into the Peace Corps and leaving his Springfield friends

and his weekly Fight Club Meetings.

(this is a group my husband attends one night a week ~ they meet at

Planet Sub, drink beer and discuss manly things like politics, current

events, music, things they are writing, and spiritual things.

Our dear friends, the Millers, hosted a going away party

at their fabulous home in the Roundtree Neighborhood.

What is the meaning of the expression: And basically, ironically, it translates into a wonderful phrase in Mexico, “lo maximo.” LOL! It will never find its counterpart in English, but if it HAD to, it would be something like, Wow. The Best Art. Over the top.
