Dear Friends,

Today's Lovely Discoveries

Are ....

Last week while at Leolas,
I spied .....
A SuitCaSe FuLL of FaDed BeaUtiEs.

Only one grabbed my attention and heart,

Her once grand dress had dulled to a faded pink.

Her face was dark and brooding.

Her hair had been all but lost through her hard years.

She was bald so a little babushka scarf was gently wrapped

about her head which gave her a wild gypsy look.

Do you know which one I chose?

I gently picked her up and whispered

"Nothing bad is ever going to happen to you again."

I paid for her and now she sits regally upon a shelf

in my studio watching all of my daily manovers.

Watching, waiting, living her life in my care.

She understands what is going on and eagerly awaits

the day I will take her down and refashion her into a

beautiful art creation.

And as I write this I think.....

Isn't this a picture of what God did for me,

He chose me apart from the rest,

carries me, holds me, and places me in

his gentle care. He paid for me

and He whispers to me,

"Nothing bad is going to happen to you

that I will not be with you through it all

child of mine."

I wait, I watch Him work in the world

around me. And as bruised and damaged as

I have become, I am not weary because

I can eagerly await the day

when I will be created anew and

given a body that is perfect for eternity.

*~Blessings Friends~*

katie, she is lovely, and that is what is so amazing about God. i am reminded of a nicole nordeman song that says "but you called me beautiful when you saw my shame... and you placed me on the shelf anyways." The song is a metaphor about a painting, but if you haven't listened to it, you sould. the song is called anyway and is on her first cd "wild eyed." the song defined a piece of God's love for me as a teen. Anyways, hope you can find it and listen.

What a beautiful entry you have on your blog today. I kept wanting to say "Amen sister". I'm making a copy so I can read it every once in a while. Thanks! You always lift my spirits. Jan

oh you do? well let me know what you think about it. the song isn't spectacular but the words are moving. i like it when music on blogs are soft and not offensive to my ears because sometimes i am on at night and when i get to a blog that is loud and my speakers are up... well you know. :)

This was your best post yet. The doll is a wonderful metaphor for all He does in our lives. This was a beautiful piece of your heart.

She reminds me of the storybook dolls I loved getting (occasionally) as a little girl. I'm so happy she found you!

It's amazing how when we take the time, even small things can take on a new and rich understanding.
Thankyou, Katie, for showing all of us God's "breath" in our everyday life. I loved talking with you at Leola's last week.
Bless you.

Katie, what can I say, what a beautiful post. And your doll, what is her name? And God is so amazing, to know that He loves us just as we are, and that He sees the jewel that we are inside.
Blessings to you, my friend.
